NSTALLATION

4.3 Lifting

Preparation

CAUTION
All local safety practices and guidelines must be followed while lifting the
enclosure.

Do not lift enclosure with batteries installed.

All personnel involved with lifting and placing the enclosure should wear head
and eye protection and gloves when required.

Crane Operation
Only properly trained and certified personnel should operate the crane.

Forklift Operation
Only properly trained and certified personnel should operate the forklift. The
forklift should have a rated lifting capacity of 907 kg (2000 lb.) with a minimum
fork length of 76.2cm (30”).

4.3.1 Required

Equipment

• One hoist or crane capable of lifting 907kg (2000 lb.)

• 4 wire-rope slings at least 1.22m (4’) long with a capacity of 907 kg (2000 lb.) each

• 4 clevises

• Minimum 1.59cm (5/8”) diameter rope to use as a tagline to guide the enclosure while lifting.

4.3.2 Lifting

Brackets

Ensure that the lifting brackets are securely in place before lifting.

4.3.3 Rubber

Mat

If mounting on a concrete slab, the rubber mat (if provided) shall be placed on the slab in the proper
position so that the mounting holes line up.

4.4 Placing

Enclosure

4.4.1 Concrete

Slab

Close the doors and place the clevises in the mounting hardware and lift the enclosure from the truck. Use
the tagline for guiding the suspended enclosure.

CAUTION
As the enclosure is lowered; ensure that it remains as level as possible and lines
up with the anchoring bolt locations.

Ensure the rubber mat (if provided) is in the proper position and lower enclosure into place.

Open doors and remove anchoring bolt, access ports, cover plates and secure with mounting hardware.
Before tightening the hardware, ensure that the enclosure is level. Use shims as close to the bolt locations
as possible for leveling purposes. Tighten all bolts securely.

After securing the enclosure, remove the slings and lifting brackets.

4.4.2 Steel

Platform

If the steel platform is located at ground level, the procedures are the same as those above for the concrete
slab.

4.4.3 Roof

Mounting

The mounting platform must be in place before the enclosure can be installed. All
grounding should be in place before installation. Refer to Chapter 5 for
grounding
instructions.
The enclosure must be placed on the roof using either a freight elevator with access to the roof, or a crane
or hoist on the roof. The crane or hoist should have a minimum lifting capacity of 907 kg (2000 lb.).

Do not remove the enclosure from its pallet until it is on the roof and is ready to be placed.

Once the enclosure is on the roof, follow the instructions in Section 4.4.1.
