command ECHO ON so you can see what you’re typing. Then enter SHOW DEVICE to see the list of connected
devices. The Lectrosonics Translator should appear in the list. On older masters, it may appear as an unknown device
type, recognizable as the PT3 from its AXlink device number. The PT3 will work properly even if it is identified only as
an unknown device by the AMX master. The important thing is that the master must detect the device with the device
number selected in step 2.

15. To test the actions, enter the command

PULSE [

N,1]

where

N is the AXlink device number selected in step 2 (e.g. PULSE [161,1]). This pulses channel 1, thus performing

the Auto/Direct Remote action. The AM8 is now prepared to accept Auto vs. Direct channel settings from the
LecNet.

16. Now enter

PULSE [

N,3]

again substituting the AXlink device number for

N. This pulses channel 3, thus performing the Auto/Direct All Direct

action. This sets all AM8 channels to direct mode, causing all 8 front panel LED channel status indicators to illumi
nate.

17. Next, type in

PULSE [

N,4]

again substituting the AXlink device number for

N. This pulses channel 4, thus performing the Auto/Direct All Auto

action. This sets all AM8 channels to auto mode, extinguishing all 8 front panel LED channel status indicators.

18. To test the monitoring capability, first enter

PULSE [

N,2]

where

N is the AXlink device number selected in step 2. This pulses channel 2, thus performing the Auto/Direct

Local action. The AM8 again accepts Auto vs. Direct channel settings from the rear panel dipswitches, rather than
via LecNet commands.

19. Now enter

DEVICE STATUS

N

where

N is the AXlink device number selected in step 2. The list of channels which are on from 101 through 108

should correspond with the LEDs on the front of the AM8 mixer. From here, each time you press the Enter key, the
AMX master will repeat the last command, allowing you to continually monitor the status of those channels. Using the
AM8 rear panel dipswitches, try switching some AM8 inputs between auto and direct mode. The status of AXlink
channels 101-108 as reported by the AMX master should track with the LEDs on the front of the AM8.

If any of the above doesn’t work correctly, please refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING section.

20. Congratulations! You are well on your way to mastering a very powerful and sophisticated one-of-a-kind tool,
which makes some previously difficult tasks much easier and previously impossible tasks possible.

AXCESS PROGRAMMING HINTS

The topic of programming AMX control systems is a broad one which is well beyond the scope of this manual. There
are nonetheless a few hints we would like to offer. Working examples featuring all of these practices are included on
the distribution disk that comes with the PT3.

PULSED VS. LATCHING CHANNELS

Commonly a channel will be “pulsed” to perform a single task. A good example would be the use of separate buttons
on a touch panel, one to “mute” a mixer input, the other to “unmute” it. When the button is pressed, the PT3 will see
