are provided to help organize the list cosmetically, however the order is not important to the functioning of the PT3. It
is valid, and fairly common, to have an empty monitor map.
The PT3 Status frame displays the current status of the connection between the computer and the PT3. The connec­
tion has three states, as explained in the table below.
Not Connected The computer is not currently communicating with the PT3. This is the case whenever the
active window does not belong to the PT3 software, as well as whenever the PT3 is not
connected to the PC.
Ready The PT3 is connected but its settings do not match those shown by the PT3 software. It
will be necessary to save your settings to the PT3 before they take effect.
Live The PT3 is connected and the settings shown are up to date. The PT3 is operating on the
settings shown.
Note: If the active window in the Windows system belongs to an application besides the PT3 software, the PT3
software will pause PT3 operation and disconnect from the serial port until it again has focus. This is intended
to prevent serial port conflicts.
The Go Live button attempts to bring the PT3 into synch with the displayed user settings. Most often it will cause
settings to be saved to the PT3, however if blank settings are displayed, the Go Live button will instead cause the
current settings to be read from the PT3.
The Quit button exits, prompting to save any unsaved changes as appropriate. If a PT3 is connected, a prompt is
issued: “Do you wish to keep the PT3 running?”. This question is necessary because the LecNet can only be con­
trolled by the PT3 or the PC, but not both. If you will need to control other LecNet devices from the PC after quitting
the PT3 program, choose No. Otherwise, choose Yes and allow the PT3 to do its job.
