Metering Pump Disassembly:
Warning: Never use any type of grease or lubricants on pump or fittings. Clean
parts to be reused thoroughly. Lay parts that will be reused on clean towels.
1.
Position the pump inlet body in a table vise. Remove the Bearing block or Clevis
from the top of the Piston rod (VHPC-2218)
2.
Lift the Piston rod (VHPC-2218) to the highest position. Using a 1-3/4” wrench
loosen the Lock nut (VHPC-2221) from the Cylinder (VHPC-2216) and then un-
screw the Outlet body (VHPC-2217) from the cylinder.
3. Push / pull the Piston rod (VHPC-2218) down and out of the outlet body.
Remove the cylinder O-ring (O-E-025) if it sticks in the bottom of the outlet body.
Set these a side for now you will finish disassembling them later.

Using a 1-3/8” wrench remove the Cylinder (VHPC-2216) out of the Inlet body
(VHPC-2215-B). Remove the cylinder O-Ring (O-E-025) from the inlet body if it
remains after the cylinder is removed.
5. Remove the Inlet fitting (HF-12F-12J-SS) and Port plug (VHPC-2224) from the
inlet body. Remove the O-ring (O-S-3-908) from both items.
6. Remove the inlet body from the table vise and carefully remove the Ball stop
(VHPC-2220) and Ball (VHPC-2223). Use caution not to drop the ball as it can
become damaged.
7. Outlet Body: Remove the Packing nut (VHPC-2207) from the top of the outlet
body. Using a flat blade screw driver remove the three (3) Seals (VHPC-2210)
from the top of the outlet body.
8. Un-screw the Fitting (CM-1055) from the side of the outlet body and remove the
O-ring (O-S-013).
9. Piston Rod: Un-screw and remove the Seal retainer (VHPC-2212) and Piston
seal (VHPC-2222) from the Piston body (VHPC-2211).
10. Remove the Piston body (VHPC-2211, Ball (03069) and Spring (04009-1) from
the Piston rod (VHPC-2218). Use caution not to drop the ball as it can become
damaged.
Properly clean all parts to be reused and lay them out on a clean towel. Inspect the
piston rod and cylinder for wear or damage. Inspect the piston body ball (03069) and
inlet body ball (VHPC-2223) for pits, flats and scratches and replace as necessary. The
balls are not included on the seal kit and must be ordered separately.
