Plates

Heated assays: select one of these recommended plates:

Polyfiltronics 96-well plate, 200 µL, catalog #7703-1902, black.

CoStar

®

Thermowell

®

96-well plate, thin-wall polycarbonate,

model P.

Nonheated assays: select a 96-well plate with an overall height no
greater than 0.75 inches (19 mm). When using uncovered plates,
use black opaque plates if possible to reduce photobleaching of
beads.

Instrument Calibrators
and Controls

The Luminex 100 IS system requires calibration:

at least once a month

if the “dCal temperature” (difference of current temperature and
the last calibrated—between the yellow arrows on the DD Temp
gauge) changes by more than ±3°C

if the system is turned off or moved

if the assay controls are not within the prespecified range

as needed for troubleshooting.

Always run system controls after calibration and as needed for
troubleshooting.

To minimize carryover, Luminex recommends a wash in between
instrument calibration and instrument control steps.

What to Do Next

Continue with the following Acquisition Detail section to develop
your assays.

Then, in the Create Products section you define standards and
controls for use with your kits.

Lastly, you define template information that includes gate settings,
sample volumes, how many tests are included in the kit, and analyzer
functions.
