OPERATION
The Traceable

Clock

contains a pre-tuned internal radio

receiver that receives a 60 kHz frequency signal generated
by the U.S. Atomic Clock. The U.S. Atomic Clock is
located in Boulder Colorado and is operated by NIST
(National Institute of Standards and Technology).

Upon installation of the batteries, the unit automatically

activates its receiver and initiates signal reception. You
may not receive a signal immediately. It may take as long
as 72 hours to receive a complete signal from the Atomic
Clock. Best reception often occurs between midnight and
4 a.m.

Successful reception of the Atomic Clock signal is

dependent upon positioning and location of the unit.
Insufficient signal strength or external electrical interfer-
ence may prevent the unit from receiving a complete
signal. Main causes for poor reception are heavily rein-
forced concrete and steel structures and/or placement of
unit close to video or PC monitors. Certain areas of
Eastern United States where urban interference or signals
from United Kingdom’s Atomic Clock may distort or
interfere with the signal from U.S. Atomic Clock.

MANUAL SETTING OF TIME OF DAY
On the back of the clock, above and to the left of the
battery, is a black, rectangular button for manual adjust-
ment of the clock. Press and hold the button until the
desired time is displayed.
NOTE: Any manual changes made will be automatically
overridden
with the next signal reception from the Atomic
Clock.

SELECTING THE TIME ZONE
Note on back of the clock four (4) buttons for user-
selectable time zones: Pacific (PT), Mountain (MT), Central
(CT), and Eastern (ET). To change the time zone being
displayed, press the desired time zone. The clock will
immediately adjust the displayed time settings to the
selected time zone.

ALL OPERATIONAL DIFFICULTIES
If this clock does not function properly for any reason,
please replace the battery with a new high-quality battery
(see “Battery Replacement” section). Low battery power
can occasionally cause any number of “apparent” opera-
tional difficulties. Replacing the battery with a new fresh
battery will solve most difficulties.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
The clock battery is located in the back of the unit. Re-
move the exhausted battery and install a new AA Alkaline
battery.
