Do not use any substitutes for the immersion oil, as this will significantly reduce the quality of
the resulting image.
After placing the oil on the lens and the specimen, raise the microscope stage
with a coarse focus knob until two drops merge. To bring the image into focus, you can use the fine
focus system.
When you are finished observing, clean the immersion oil with a cloth or a filter paper. If the
objective lens has become stained you can clean it with a cotton pad dipped in alcohol. Be very
gentle and do not apply any excessive pressure, as you may damage the objective lens!
