Introduction
Overview
This manual explains how to install the Compaq NC3131 Fast Ethernet Server Adapter and its
optional upgrade modules. The modular capabilities of the NC3131 Server Adapter allow you to
install or upgrade existing PCI servers with 10 or 100 Mb/s Ethernet networks now, while
offering the ability to upgrade to 1 Gb/s fiber SX and LX, or Gigabit over copper.
The NC3131 Server Adapter has two 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX ports. Several upgrade modules
install on the NC3131 Server Adapter and offer the following port and connection options:
Two RJ-45 dual-speed ports (NC3132 Dual 10/100) ■

One SC fiber port for 100BASE-FX connectivity (NC3133 FX)

One RJ-45 tri-speed port for 10/100/1000 Gigabit over copper connectivity (NC7132)
