Notations

The string between the brackets identifies the type of input needed. For example, <subcommand>
indicates you must input one of the subcommands, such as discover, in this part of the command
line.

Square brackets enclosing a string or selection of strings separated by the pipe symbol ( | ) indicate
alternative optional command line parameters.

Command syntax

The hpsp_spt command is invoked on the command line, followed by a subcommand with options
and parameters.

NOTE:

You can use either the abbreviated or word form of a subcommand or option. Both forms

are listed in the syntax provided. For example, you can enter hpsp_spt -h or hpsp_spt
--help

for the command to obtain help.

Option

Provides detailed information for a given command. Supported with the list
subcommands: --listDrives, --listVolumes, --listEnclosureDrives.
This option is ignored when used with --format xml.

-v

--verbose

Formats output in text or XML. Supported with the list subcommands: --listDrives,
--listEnclosureDrives

, --listVolumes. The default format option is text.

-f <text | xml>

--format <text | xml>

Saves command output to the specified file. If not mentioned, the output is directed
to the console. Supported by all subcommands.

-o <filename>-

-outputFile <filename>

Obtaining help

Syntax

hpsp_spt -h

hpsp_spt --help

Description

Displays how to use the storage provisioning tool (the syntax and options that are valid for the
command line). If no command is specified, --help is implied.

Displaying the version

Syntax

hpsp_spt -v

hpsp_spt --version

Description

Displays the version of SPT that is running.
