Configuring the tool

In the initial display window, select one of the following options to control the scope of the discovery:

Local Subnet Discovery—Searches for MSA devices in the subnet of the host on which the Tool
is running.

Range Based Discovery—Searches for MSA devices in a specified range of IP addresses.
When this option is selected, the page display changes to include fields in which to enter the
IP address range to search.

Discovering devices and viewing discovered information

In the initial display window, click Discover to initiate a discovery using the Advanced Discovery
Options settings. For more information, see

“Configuring the tool” (page 10)

.

While the search is in progress, discovered devices are displayed in the Discovered devices
navigation tree in real time. Depending on the size of the search parameters (entire host subnet
or range of IP addresses), the discovery may take several minutes to complete.

The following actions are available in the initial display window:

To view information about a discovered device, select the device in the Discovered devices
navigation tree. System information for the selected device is displayed in the right pane of
the window. Depending on the selected device, right-clicking the device may bring up a menu
of available actions, such as Launch Storage Management Utility, Launch Telnet, or Launch
FTP, Start Log Collection and Stop Log Collection.

To cancel a discovery in progress, click Abort. (During discovery, the Discover button in the
initial display window changes to the Abort button.)

To update the display, click Refresh.

To delete the discovered information, click Clear.
