CAUTION:

To access the external disk array after executing the Disconnect Subsystem command, execute

the Check Paths & Restore Vol. command.

Disconnecting single external LUs (Disconnect Volume)

1.

In the LU Operation tab, select an external LU group number in the Device Tree (left pane)
Information about external LUs in the selected external LU group appears in the Device List (right pane).

Select the external LU in the device list, right-click, and select Disconnect Volume.
The selected external LU group number in the Device Tree and the selected external LU in the Device List

appear in blue italics. It also appears in the Preset list. To check details of the intended operation,

select the row in the Preset list, right-click, and select Detail. To cancel settings, select the row in the

Preset list, right-click, and select Delete.

Click Apply in the LU Operation pane. A confirmation message appears.

Click OK.
The Ex-Dev.Status column in the Device List changes to Cache Destaging. When External Storage XP

finishes writing data from cache to the external LU, the Ex-Dev. Status column changes to Disconnect.
If errors occur during disconnect operations, failed operations appear in the Preset list, and error codes

appear. To check error messages, click the failed operation row, right-click, and select Detail.

CAUTION:

To access the external LU after executing the Disconnect Subsystem command, execute the

Check Paths & Restore Vol. command.

Checking connection status and resuming external LU operations (Check Paths &

Restore Vol.)

Use the Check Paths & Restore Vol. command to resume using an external LU that has been disconnected

using the Disconnect Subsystem command but whose mapping settings have been preserved. This

command checks the external LU’s defined mapping and current status against the path status if the

external LU is usable; otherwise, the status remains as Blockade.
There are two ways to restore disconnected external LUs:

Restoring single external LUs (Check Paths & Restore Vol.)

1.

In the LU Operation tab, select an external LU group number in the Device Tree.
Information about external LUs in the selected external LU group appears in the Device List.

2.

Click the external LU in the Device List, right-click, and select Check Paths & Restore Vol.

NOTE:

After you have executed the Check Paths & Restore Vol. command, click the Refresh button

in the Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console main window to update the information and

check the current progress status.

The selected external group number in the Device Tree and the selected external LU in the Device List

appear in blue italics. Rows with operations to be performed on appear in the Preset list. To check

details of settings, select the setting in the Preset list, right-click, and select Detail. To cancel settings,

select the setting in the Preset list, right-click, and select Delete.

3.

Click Apply in the LU Operation pane. A confirmation message appears.

4.

Click OK.
