1.

If the micro version of XP24000/XP20000 is 60-03-20-00/00-xx or later and if both the
migration source and the migration target volumes are THP volumes, the emulation type can
be between OPEN-V and OPEN-0V.

2.

If a volume whose emulation type is OPEN-V is a normal volume, and if the size of a migration
target volume is larger than a migration-source volume, a volume that has the same size of
the migration-source volume is re-created. The remaining capacity can be reused. If you use
the server properties, you can specify how many volumes from the largest are displayed as
migration target volumes

The LDKC:CU:LDEV number for the volume is in the range from 00:00:00 to 00:FF:FF

You can access the volumes and they are not reserved by other programs or tasks.

The emulation type is other than OPEN-V and both the migration source and the migration target
volumes are normal or both are CVS volumes.

In the Migration Source wizard, in the Selected Volumes, volumes that are indicated as Yes in the
Migratable row can be set as a migration source.

Tasks that must be completed beforehand:

Creation of a tier in which the target mainframe volumes are grouped (only when migrating
mainframe volumes)

Information that should be obtained beforehand:

Migration source host, logical group, tier, or storage system.

Migration target THP pool, tier or migration target volumes.

LUSE volume conditions

If the source volume is LUSE volume:

A migration target must be selected for each volume that constitutes the LUSE.

Target volumes must be either all internal or all external volumes.

The LUSE volume can be migrated only if the target volume is not a THP volume.

The emulation type, drive type, I/O suppression mode, cache mode, and CLPR of all migration
target volumes must be the same.

For the Tiered Storage Manager to automatically determine migration target volumes, external
migration target volumes require that all of the volumes must be in the same external storage system
and the RAID level and SLPR (storage management logical partition) of all migration target volumes
be the same. If the micro version of XP24000/XP20000 is 60-05-12-00/00 or earlier, you must
not perform I/O operations on the volumes while migration is being executed.

Pool conditions

If the target is a THP pool:

The status cannot be blocked.

The number of virtual volumes in the THP pool must be fewer than 8,192.

When the migration source is a THP volume, the source and target volumes must be in different
THP pools.

The target THP pool must have more unused capacity than the source volume.

The usage rate during data migration must not exceed the larger threshold value (threshold 1 or
threshold 2).

The maximum over-provisioning percent of the THP pool does not exceed the over-provisioning
warning threshold value.
