F HP P6000 Performance Advisor deployment architecture
This section describes the deployment models for HP P6000 Performance Advisor in a SAN. HP
P6000 Performance Advisor must communicate with both HP P6000 Command View and HP
P6000 Performance Data Collector, in order to monitor a storage system. It receives state data
from HP P6000 Command View and performance data from HP P6000 Performance Data Collector
pertaining to a storage system. The deployment models explained in this section illustrate the ways
in which these applications can communicate with each other.
HP P6000 Performance Advisor can be installed on the same management server (SAN host) on
which HP P6000 Command View resides or on a separate server. If installed on a separate server,
ensure that you import that server into the same Management Group where the management server
resides.
Both HP P6000 Performance Advisor and HP P6000 Command View must reside on the same
management server or belong to the same Management Group, so that HP P6000 Performance
Advisor can automatically discover and communicate with HP P6000 Command View. For more
information, see the Management Integration Framework (MIF) Administrators Guide. The HP
P6000 Performance Data Collector instance can belong to the same Management Group or exist
outside the Management Group. An HP P6000 Performance Advisor instance can monitor only
those storage systems that are managed by the discovered HP P6000 Command View instance
and accessible through the HP P6000 Performance Data Collector instance, which you add in HP
P6000 Performance Advisor.
An HP P6000 Performance Advisor instance can communicate with multiple HP P6000 Command
View and HP P6000 Performance Data Collector instances. In addition, multiple instances of HP
P6000 Performance Advisor can coexist in a Management Group.
Deployment model 1
The following figure shows HP P6000 Command View, HP P6000 Performance Data Collector,
and HP P6000 Performance Advisor installed on the same management server.
Deployment model 2
The following figure shows HP P6000 Command View and HP P6000 Performance Data Collector
installed on a Fibre Channel-attached management server, and HP P6000 Performance Advisor
