9-2 Viewing the List of Hosts

All Device Manager users can view the list of hosts for which they have access permission. To view the list of
hosts, select the Hosts object in the navigation frame, and then expand the tree hierarchy under the Hosts
object by clicking on

+

(see

Figure 9-1

).

NOTE:

When External Storage XP of StorageWorks XP12000/XP10000 is used, the external port for

StorageWorks XP12000/XP10000 displays in a list of hosts.

When the Hosts object is selected
When the Hosts object is selected in the navigation frame, the method frame displays the following
operations:

When the Hosts object is selected in the navigation frame, the information frame displays the list of hosts.
The name, IP address, and storage capacity, and host type are displayed for each host.

When a specific host is selected
When a host is selected in the navigation frame, the method frame displays the following operations:

When a host is selected in the navigation frame, the Show Properties – host-name subwindow in the
information frame displays the following information and operations for the selected host (see section

9-

):

Name: name of the host
If you have changed the name of the host and run the HiScan command, restarted the host agent, or
refreshed the host information, both the old and new names display. This could prevent you from
modifying or deleting pairs on the host. In this case, delete the old name and refresh the storage
subsystem.

IP address: IP address of the host

Capacity: total capacity of the storage allocated to the host, including the storage in all storage
subsystems managed by Device Manager

World Wide Names: WWNs associated with the host
If the host has internal hard disk drives that are fibre channel, Host View displays WWNs for both the
external host bus adapter and the internal hard disk drive.

Type: Host type
For the external port, Storage Port (storage-subsystem-name/port-name) is displayed. For normal
hosts, Host is displayed.

Remove Storage (same as remove storage from a storage group, see section

Move Storage (same as move storage from one storage group to another)

Replication Management Console: List of hosts that centrally manage the copy pairs accessible from
the selected host (drop-down list)

Object List: List of volumes allocated to the host

9-3 Adding a Host

On Web Client, hosts can be added by the following methods:

NOTE:

When a host is installed by using the Device Manager agent, information on the host is sent to the

Device Manager server. This function automatically adds new hosts to Device Manager. For details on the
Device Manager agent, see the manual HP StorageWorks Command View XP Advanced Edition Device
Manager Agent Installation Guide.
