9-7 Managing Copy Pairs

The system administrator, local system administrator, storage administrator, and local storage administrator
can manage Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP, and Snapshot XP copy pairs. Guest and local guest
users cannot manage copy pairs.

You can operate Continuous Access XP Journal copy pairs from the Physical View dialog box. For details, see
section

NOTE:

for important information on Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP, and

Snapshot XP requirements (information about RAID Manager installed on the host, command devices with
Secure Manager XP applied, P-VOLs, S-VOLs, and MCU-RCU paths).

NOTE:

When permitting a local user to perform copy pair operations, assign the following to the user group

of that user: a host on which copy pair operations can be performed, and a command device recognized by
that host.

9-7-1 Creating Copy Pairs

CAUTION:

The create copy pair operation is destructive. The data on the LDEV that will become an S-VOL

will be lost. The user is responsible for backing up the data before performing this operation.

The System Administrator, Storage Administrator, Local System Administrator, and Local Storage
Administrator can create Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP, and Snapshot XP copy pairs. Guest and
local guest users do not have access to this function.

To create one or more copy pairs:

1.

Log in to Device Manager as a system administrator, storage administrator, local system administrator, or
local storage administrator.

CAUTION:

The create pair operation is destructive. Make sure that the LDEVs that will become S-

VOLs are no longer in use and that the data has been backed up.
