Preparing for and Starting Operations 32

If Device Manager and another management tool (such as XP12000/XP10000, XP1024/XP128 Remote
Web Console) modify the storage subsystem configuration at the same time, the operation(s) might not
be performed correctly. Before using Device Manager Web Client (or CLI) to modify the configuration of a
storage subsystem, make sure that the storage subsystem is not being accessed by any other
management tool. The StorageWorks XP Disk Array SVP must be in the View mode (and not in the
Modify mode).

IMPORTANT:

In an environment using the storage logical partition function, you can use different

Device Manager servers to manage individual SLPRs, in addition to a Device Manager server that
manages the entire storage subsystem. However, do not set up a system in a configuration in which
multiple Device Manager servers manage the entire storage subsystem. A single Device Manager
cannot manage multiple SLPRs of the same subsystem.

4-2 Link-and-Launch Requirements

NOTE:

When Web Client is used on HP-UX with Device Manager, Remote Web Console is the only

application that supports operation after a link-and-launch operation. For the latest information about
operating systems and browsers supported by an application started from a link-and-launch operation, refer
to the manuals for the application.
