logging out.
5-7-1 Launching HDLM
HDLM for Sun™ Solaris™ and HDLM for IBM
®
AIX
®
manage access paths to storage for the StorageWorks XP
Disk Array subsystems. HDLM for Sun™ Solaris™ and HDLM for IBM
®
AIX
®
provide functions for distributing
workload across paths and switching to an alternate path if a failure occurs on the path in use. Networks
dedicated to data transfer, such as storage area networks (SANs), can use HDLM for Sun™ Solaris™ and
HDLM for IBM
®
AIX
®
to provide enhanced access to storage.
When a Device Manager agent and HDLM for Sun™ Solaris™ or HDLM for IBM
®
AIX
®
are installed on a
management-target host of Device Manager in Device Manager a Dynamic Link Manager button displays in
the Show Properties – Host Name subwindow for the host. For instructions on displaying the Show Properties

5-7-2 Launching Provisioning Manager
Provisioning Manager allows you to manage a group of disks in a storage subsystem as a single large data
storage pool.
When Device Manager server and Provisioning Manager are installed on the same server, a link to
Provisioning Manager displays in Device Manager's Tools window. Clicking the Provisioning Manager link
opens the Provisioning Manager GUI in a new window.
5-7-3 Launching Replication Monitor
Replication Monitor provides the functionality for monitoring the configuration and operating status of complex
copy pairs. Replication Monitor displays the configuration and operating status of copy pairs in an easy-to-
understand manner and automatically notifies users if an error occurs.
When the Device Manager server and Replication Monitor are installed on the same server, a link to
Replication Monitor appears in the Tools window of Device Manager. Clicking the Replication Monitor link
opens the Replication Monitor GUI in a new window.
5-7-4 Launching Tiered Storage Manager
Tiered Storage Manager allocates data to the best-suited storage based on the data characteristics (value of
data and access frequency) in a hierarchical storage environment with StorageWorks XP12000/XP10000 as
the core.
When the Device Manager server and Tiered Storage Manager are installed on the same server, a link to
Tiered Storage Manager appears in the Tools window of Device Manager. Clicking the Tiered Storage
Manager link opens the Tiered Storage Manager GUI in a new window.
