CWDM (SFP) transceivers
CWDM (SFP) transceivers are hot-swappable, field-replaceable, small form pluggable devices (
)
that adapt an electronic data signal to laser light at a specific wavelength. These devices allow gigabit
ports to link with fiber optic networks. CWDM (SFP) transceivers create light at one of eight specific
wavelengths.
CWDM (SFP) transceivers provide serial ID information and a special management and diagnostics port.
Using the standard two-wire IC protocol, a host can communicate with a CWDM (SFP) transceiver to
obtain status and operating parameters.
Figure 10 CWDM (SFP) transceiver
The CWDM (SFP) transceiver includes the following features:
•
Eight CWDM wavelengths
•
Built-in diagnostics
•
Standard SFP transceiver footprint
•
Class1laser safety
•
Metal enclosure, for lower EMI
