3 Installing and removing the RMD tool
Installing the RMD tool on the backup server
The RMD tool must be installed only on the backup server. To install the RMD tool:
1.
Navigate to the folder containing the HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool installation
executable.
2. Double-click the setup.exe file to start installation.
The HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool—InstallShield Wizard window appears.
3. Click Next to continue.
The End User License Agreement window appears.
4. If you agree with the end user license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license
agreement, and then click Next.
The Destination Folder window appears.
5. Click Next to install the Tool in the default folder location.
The User Credentials window appears.
6. Enter the logged-in user credentials, and click Next.
NOTE: If port 9942 is busy, you are prompted to enter an alternate port number.
7. Click Install.
The InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears. The installation takes approximately
two minutes to complete.
8. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
NOTE: After successful installation:
•
The HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for Recovery Manager for Exchange service
is created.
•
The Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for RM for Exchange shortcut is created on the desktop.
Upgrading to RMD tool 2.0
This section provides instructions for upgrading the RMD tool for RME, from version 1.x to version
2.0.
NOTE:
•
The installed RMD tool diagnoses both RME and RMS environments. However, the RMD tool
version 2.0 for RME diagnoses only the RME environment.
•
If you need RMD tool version 2.0 to diagnose the RMS environment, then you must download
and install it separately.
While doing an upgrade from version 1.x, the following dialog box appears.
