Quick Start

At the HP NetServer:
Before proceeding
: When HP AutoPilot Client setup is finished, the HP AutoPilot
icon appears in the display, or, in Windows 95, on the program bar. However, you still
need to install the Server software at each Windows NT server you want to monitor
with HP AutoPilot. Be sure you have administrator privileges for those Windows NT
servers.
¨
Step 1
Verify SNMP services at the HP NetServer
Be sure your Windows NT server provides TCP/IP and SNMP services. Set up
SNMP services to include the community name and trap destination address (IP
address) of your HP AutoPilot client workstation (identified in Step 3 in the
preceding section).
¨
Step 2
Run HP NetServer setup
Insert the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM in your HP AutoPilot Client's CD-
ROM drive, and run setup.exe, located in the autoplt/server/winnt subdirectory.
¨
Step 3
Restart the HP NetServer
If SNMP is running, HP AutoPilot setup stops it for you while it finishes
installation. When setup is complete, HP AutoPilot prompts you to restart. You
must restart the HP NetServer to complete the installation.
¨
Step 4
Verify connection
After restarting all the NetServers on which you have installed the HP AutoPilot
server software, a verification message is sent from the HP NetServer to your HP
AutoPilot Client letting you know that installation was successful.
