REMANUFACTURED CARBURETOR
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Congratulations on your purchase of a Quick Fuel Technology remanufactured carburetor. This
carburetor has been 100% tested and inspected to ensure the highest quality performance possible
from a remanufactured performance carburetor.
Step 1, Disconnect battery. Fire is a hazard you can avoid with proper precautions.
Disconnecting the battery not only prevents an accidental arc in the presence of fuel but, it also
prevents someone from attempting to start the engine when you may not be present.
Step 2. Remove air cleaner and related hose connections to the air cleaner, if applicable.
Step 3. Remove all vacuum lines making note of their original position. This may be
accomplished by either making a drawing or using masking tape to number the hoses and the
corresponding tubes on the carburetor.
Step 4. Remove fuel line fitting. Caution: There may still be pressure in this line if the engine
has been operating within the prior 48 hours or so. It is advisable to use a small metal container
and shop rags to catch fuel that will leak from the fuel line.
Use a flare nut wrench on the fuel line fitting. It will be necessary to hold the fuel inlet nut with
another wrench to prevent turning. Lightly break loose the fuel line fitting and allow the pressure
to bleed off before attempting to completely remove the fuel line fitting. If you have a rubber
hose fuel line, loosen the hose clamp and break the seal by twisting the hose on the inlet fitting.
Allow the pressure to bleed off.
Step 5. Remove the throttle return spring and linkage from the carburetor.
Step 6. Remove the four hold-down nuts in each corner of the throttle body.
Step 7. You can now remove the carburetor from the engine. Remove the old manifold flange
gasket. Cover the intake manifold opening with shop rags or suitable cover to prevent a foreign
matter from entering the engine.
Step 8. Set the remanufactured carburetor and the old carburetor next to each other on a
convenience work area. Transfer the air cleaner stud, throttle connecting stud or ball, and any
other items attached to the old carburetor and transfer them to the same location on the
remanufactured unit.
Step 9. Install the new manifold flange gasket. Reinstall the remanufactured carburetor in reverse
order of removal. Caution: Do not over-tighten hold down nuts. These nuts require less than 2
(two) foot pounds of torque, just enough to ensure an adequate seal. Tighten in a criss-cross
pattern. After tightening operate the throttle lever to be sure there is no interference and the
throttle closes completely.
Step 10. After double checking all connections to be sure they are tight; reconnect the battery.
Crank the engine for 30 to 45 seconds. This will allow the fuel pump to fill the fuel bowl. Close
the choke, depress the accelerator pedal to the floor two times, the engine should start. If the
engine does not start crank the engine an additional 30 to 45 seconds. Once the engine has
started, allow it to reach normal operating temperature then set all of the tuning adjustments to
proper specifications.
