Defrosting

Freezer section

The freezer compartment does not defrost
automatically. A layer of hoarfrost in the
freezer compartment will impair
refrigeration of the frozen food and
increase power consumption. Regularly
defrost the freezer compartment.

Attention!
Do not scrape off hoarfrost or ice with
a knife or pointed object. You could
damage the refrigerant tubes. Leaking
refrigerant may ignite or cause eye
injuries.

Proceed as follows
1. Remove the frozen food and store

temporarily in a cool location.

2. Switch off the appliance.

3. Pull out the mains plug or switch off

the fuse.

4. Leave the appliance to defrost.

5. Wipe up the condensation and rub dry.

6. Switch on the appliance again.

7. Put the frozen food back in the freezer

compartment.

Defrosting aids
You can accelerate the defrosting
process by placing a pan of hot water in
the freezer compartment. Place the pan
on a heatĆinsulating base!

Warning!
Never use electrical appliances or naked
flames to defrost the freezer compartĆ
ment, e.g. heaters, steam cleaners,
candles, kerosene lamps, etc.

Caution when using defrosting sprays:
S Defrosting sprays may form explosive

gases.

S Defrosting sprays may contain solvents

or propellants which attack plastic.

S Defrosting sprays may be a health

hazard.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

The refrigerator and
coolĆfresh compartments
defrost fully automatically

While the refrigerating unit is running,
beads of water or hoarfrost form at the
back of the refrigerator compartment.
This is quite normal. It is not necessary to
scrape off the frost or wipe off the beads
of water. The rear panel defrosts autoĆ
matically. The condensation runs into the
evaporation area of the appliance via the
condensation channels.

Note
Keep the condensation channels and
drainage hole clean, Fig. 0, so that the
condensation can run out.
