Samsung keypad

Configure Samsung keypad settings. For more information about
entering text with the Samsung keypad, see “Using the Samsung
Keypad”
on page 49.

From the Settings menu, touch Language & keyboard

Samsung keypad (Samsung keypad settings) to access the
following options:

Touch items to enable or disable the setting. When
enabled, a check mark appears in the check box.

• Portrait keypad types: Select which type of Samsung keypad

appears when you touch a text entry field with your phone in upright
position, either Qwerty Keypad, or3x4 Keypad.

• Input languages: Enable/disable keypad input languages. When

enabled, languages can be changed by touching and sliding across
the keypad spacebar. (Available languages: English, Español, and

.)

• XT9: When enabled, lists words that include your key presses.

• XT9 advanced settings: Lets you enable those XT9 features you

want to use and disable those you don’t want to use.

• Keypad sweeping: When enabled, lets you select text entry modes

by sweeping across the Samsung keypad.

• Character preview: When enabled, a tiny pop-up appears for each

key touch, indicating which key was touched.

• Auto-capitalization: When enabled, automatically capitalizes the

first letter of the first word in a sentence.

• Voice input: When enabled, lets you enter text by speaking.

• Auto-full stop: When enabled, automatically places a period (.) at

the end of a line of text when you press the space bar twice.

• Tutorial: Learn about this keypad’s functions.

Device keyboard

Device keyboard settings let you enable or disable automatic
word replacement, automatic capitalization, and automatic
punctuation for your phone’s retractable QWERTY keyboard.
