Formatting Memory Cards

The memory card supplied with your camera is formatted at shipment. Other memory
cards must be formatted before fi rst use. For information on formatting memory
cards, see “The Shooting Menu: CF Card Format” (

67).

Removing Memory Cards

Memory cards can be removed without loss of data
when the camera is off. To remove memory cards, turn
the camera off and open the card slot cover (

). Press

the eject button to partially eject the card (

) and then

remove the card by hand. Note that memory cards may
become hot during use; observe due caution when re-
moving memory cards.
