4 Close the memory card slot cover/battery-chamber cover
Close the cover (
ᕡ) and slide it in the direction shown until it latches (ᕢ)
Formatting Memory Cards
Before they can be used in the COOLPIX S2, memory cards must be formatted using the
Format card option in the camera setup menu (
79).
Removing Memory Cards
Memory cards can be removed without loss of data when the
camera is off. To remove memory cards, turn the camera off
and confi rm that the power-on lamp is off. Do not open
the memory card slot/battery-chamber cover while the
power-on lamp is lit. Open the memory card slot/battery-
chamber cover and press the card in to partially eject the card.
The card can then be removed by hand.

Inserting Memory Cards
Check to be sure the card is in the correct orienta-
tion. Inserting the card upside down or backwards
could damage the camera or the card.
Before inserting the card, make sure that it is un-
locked. If the card is locked, pictures can not be
recorded, deleted, or edited and the card can not
be formatted.
