Video CD (Win)

Term description

DVD Video:

This is a read only digital media with recorded high quality image and sound.
The images are generally recorded in MPEG-2 format and can be played using any DVD
player.

MPEG:

MPEG is the abbreviation for “Moving Picture Experts Group”, and is the International
Standard for information compression system to digital image and high-fi audio. MPEG-1
quality averages that of a VHS tape, such as those used for playback of VideoCD. Compared
to DV (digital video) form, MPEG has the feature of prolonging recording time while
maintaining a smaller file size and is becoming the standard form of operation in the Internet
MPEG-2 maintains a high quality image and are used for DVD, digital satellite broadcasting,
etc.

Video CD:

This is one of the CD format for recording images and sounds on the CD media.
It is the compressed video data recorded as MPEG-1, with resolution of 352x240 pixels. The
number of frames per second is 24 or 29.97 frames. Same as an audio CD, about 74 minutes
of data (audio + sound) can be recorded in one CD. The audio format is MPEG-1 Layer2.
Video CD and Video CD Image created by ImageMixer, like DVD Video, support playback
control. It can be played using any Video CD player or a DVD player which supports Video
CD.

Authoring:

The process of creating the video disc is called authoring. Setting up menu composition,
contents, navigation, etc.

Contents:

This refers to the source included in the slideshow, such as movies, still pictures, sound, etc.

Thumbnails:

The miniature image of the content or a template is called thumbnail. You can distinguish
between the files at a glance.

Slideshow:

Like a slide, it plays the contents continuously. In ImageMixer, you can create slideshow
form of a video disc.

Slideshow button:

t is a button for playing slideshow. It is created when a folder is added to the main menu in
the layout environment.
The

slideshow number

corresponds with the remote control of the playing device. Press a

number button on the remote control of the device to play Video CD.

Disc image, Video CD image:

When a file composition is made into one image, it is called a disc image, Video CD (VCD)
image. A Video CD is when a file composition is made into one image in the Video CD
Ver2.0 standard.

Video Disc:

This is a term used to refer to Video CD and DVD Video in ImageMixer. It can be simply
called a disc.

Video/TV Format:

There are 2 types of Video/TV format, NTSC and PAL. NTSC is a general Video/TV format
used in Japan, USA, etc. It has 525 scanning lines and 30 frames are displayed per second.
