Large image sensor

Cinema-like creative expression is yours
to enjoy thanks to large APS HD CMOS
sensor dimensions. This expanded
sensor area enables beautiful
background defocusing effects for a
cinematic sense of depth and drama.
It also contributes to extremely high
recording sensitivity that empowers you
to effectively shoot movies in very dim
lighting. Furthermore, when teamed with
manual focus, the sensor lets you take
full advantage of P/A/S/M modes to
manually adjust exposure and achieve
desired brightness and dynamism.

Audio noise reduction

Exceptional movie quality is
complemented by outstanding audio
quality with minimal noise. This audio
recording quality is made possible by a
high-performance stereo microphone
on the top of the camera and advanced
noise reduction that effectively suppresses
AF lens drive noise via newly developed
NR algorithm.

One-touch movie access

With one press of the Movie button, the a65
is ready to roll. The camera immediately
enters movie recording mode regardless
of whether you were shooting photographs
continuously, in single-frame mode or not
at all. It’s the quick and easy way to capture
every moviemaking opportunity.

Full manual movie shooting

Full manual operation gives you the
freedom and power to realize your
creative vision. Using manual focus and
P/A/S/M modes (Program, Aperture
Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual), you
can flexibly adjust background blur and
manually control exposure to achieve
desired brightness and dynamism. On-
screen prompts provide assistance to
make full manual operation quick, easy
and comfortable.

Interchangeable lens freedom

Interchangeable lenses greatly expand your moviemaking freedom. Like a Hollywood
director, you can creatively use whatever lens most effectively brings out the moment.
Whether fisheye, super wide-angle, telephoto, macro, fixed focal length or zoom lens, the
a

65 lets you take advantage of almost any a system A-mount lens ever produced. And

because you can enjoy the benefits of high-speed, high-precision, phase-detection AF
with virtually all of these lenses, you can exercise your cinematic creativity without worrying
about difficult focusing problems.

AVCHD

Ver. 2.0 (Progressive) Full HD 60p movies

For the ultimate in smooth movie playback, you can capture Full HD movies at 60 fps
using the AVCHD Ver. 2.0 (Progressive) format. This powerful capability is made possible
by the Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, which captures beautiful 1920 x 1080 pixel movie
footage at an accelerated rate: The same resolution and rate as HDTV broadcasts.
Moreover, Translucent Mirror Technology enables Full-time Continuous AF during movie
creation for fast, high-precision focusing and precise tracking of moving subjects.

24p cinema-like expression

Hollywood films are traditionally
captured at 24 fps, creating a subtle
but unmistakable look that movie lovers
everywhere associate with the cinema.
Simply by capturing your movies at the
same frame rate, in the progressive
format at 24p, you can recreate this look
and endow your movies with an added
sense of quality and drama.
