earthed items such as pipes, radiators, cookers, refrigerators, metal
baths and taps.

Protect yourself from vibration

Hand held power tools may produce vibration. Vibration can cause

disease. Gloves to keep the operator warm may help to maintain good
blood circulation in the fingers. Hand held tools should not be used for
long periods without a break.

Maintain your power tool

Ensure all ventilation holes are kept clear at all times. Overheating and

fire may otherwise result.

Always Disconnect

Before changing fittings or accessories, always ensure that your tool is

disconnected from the power source.

Switch off before connecting

Ensure that the power tool is switched off before connecting to the power

source. If the power tool stops unexpectedly, turn the power switch to off.

Do not abuse the power cord

Be sure the cable or extension cable is in good condition. Always have

a damaged cable or extension cable replaced at an authorised service
centre before using it. Never yank or pull the cable to disconnect it from
the power socket. Never carry the tool by its cable. Keep the cable away
from damp, heat, oil, solvents, and sharp edges.

Don’t leave the tool running unattended

Always wait until the tool has completely stopped functioning, and has

been unplugged, before leaving it.

Additional Safety

When carrying the water pump, always use the carry handle - NEVER

carry the pump via the mains cable. The pump should always be
transported, stored and used in a vertical position.
Use of an RCD (residual current device - not supplied) is highly

recommended as this product will be in frequent contact with water. This
will reduce the risk of electric shock.
The electrical supply should be the same as detailed on the pump casing.

When in operation, the area around the pump should be clear of all

people and animals.
Ensure hands are dry whenever connecting or disconnecting the plug

from the power supply.
Prior to using the pump after prolonged periods of storage, visually check

the pump casing and cable for any obvious signs of damage. If in doubt,
consult a qualified electrician.
Protect the cable and plug from exposure to oil, excessive heat and

sharp objects.
Never place excessive strain on the cable as this could weaken its

connections to the pump and/or power plug.

WARNING: Should you use an extension lead, ensure that the extension
connections are protected from exposure to rain and/or water discharged
by the pump.
• Do not allow children to touch the product or any of its components.

Water Butt Pump

Before Use

Please read this important information BEFORE using this product. Failure of
the pump due to non-compliance with this information may invalidate any
claim under warranty.

This pump is designed for use in clean water environments but will

discharge suspended solids in the liquid which are no larger than 3mm
in diameter.
Sand and other abrasive materials present in the liquid being pumped

will cause increased wear.
Where possible, avoid using the pump continuously for more than 10

mins.
This pump is designed for domestic applications only in and around the

home and garden. Do not use in a commercial or industrial environment
as it is not designed to be subjected to heavy-duty usage. It is designed
for periodic on/off cycles, not for long-term continuous operation.
This pump is not suitable for use with the following liquids:

- Salt water
- Corrosive (acid based) liquids
- Combustible or explosive fluids e.g petrol/oil based fluids
- Effluent waste
Do not use with liquid that has a tempreature greater than 35°C.

Dry running of the pump creates excessive wear and must be avoided.

When not in use, protect the pump from frost damage and store in a

dry place.

Operating instructions

Unpacking the pump

Once all packaging material has been removed, please check the pump

visually for any evidence of damage.
If any damage is evident, please return it to your retailer.

The packaging should be disposed of in a responsible manner. NEVER

allow the packaging materials to be within reach of children.

Assembly

There are 2 parts to the aluminium hose section.

Connect the straight section to the pump unit.

Connect the swan neck section to the straight section.

To adjust the height of the suspending arm (1) unscrew the plastic nut

immediately above the arm, then re-position and tighten the nut.

Hose connection

Attach a female quick connector to the garden hose, and push fit onto the

male connector (5).

Operating

Survey the area where the pump is to be located carefully to ensure it will

be in a stable position.

If the location has soft residue at the botton i.e. mud, the pump should be

suspended so that the base is not in contact with the residue.
This can be achieved by either placing the pump on a raised surface e.g.

a brick, or suspending the pump via the suspending hook.
The pump can be submerged to a maximum depth of up to 8 metres.

With the pump in a stable location, the plug can now be connected to

the power supply.
