Before use

Ensure that the blade (1) mechanism is properly lubricated (see

maintenance section below).
Ensure that the blade is securely fitted, and is free from any kind of

damage.

Fuelling

Always refuel in a safe place, well away from the work area, and any

source of heat or ignition. Avoid any contact with the fuel. DO NOT
SMOKE.
Only add fuel when the engine is stopped, and has cooled fully.

Fuel should always be pre mixed, do not mix fuel in the petrol tank. Only

mix as much fuel as you intend to use. Use 40 parts unleaded petrol to
every 1 part two stroke oil. Always use proper 2 stroke oil.
Remove the fuel filler cap (9), fill the tank with fuel mixture to the level

of the filler hole.
Replace the filler cap and tighten.

Make sure that any fuel spillage is properly cleaned up.

Move the hedge trimmer well away from the fuelling area before starting

engine.
Keep extra fuel well away from the work area.

Starting the engine

WARNING: This hedge trimmer will produce toxic fumes as soon as it
is running. Never attempt to start the engine indoors, or in any kind of
enclosed space. Always wear proper safety protection, use of this tool
requires goggles, gloves, ear defenders, face mask, and sturdy clothing.
Wearing a hard hat, and safety boots, is also recommended.

Place the hedge trimmer onto the ground, ensuring that the blade is not

in contact with any object.
Set the choke lever (10) to the START position (to the left).

Repeatedly depress the priming bulb (12) 5-6 times.

Set the ignition switch (5) to the ON “1” position.

Press down on the front handle (3) to steady the hedge trimmer. Grip the

starting handle (4), and pull gently to remove slack.
Pull the starting handle firmly to start the engine. Do not wrap the starter

cord around your hand, always guide the cord back into the casing.
The engine should start after a few pulls. Squeeze the throttle trigger (6)

to accelerate the engine.

NOTE: It is necessary to depress the safety switch (7) before the throttle
trigger.

As the engine warms, move the choke lever (10) to the “RUN” position

(to the right).

Stopping the engine

Release the throttle trigger (6), and allow the engine to idle.

Move the ignition switch (5) to the OFF “0” position.

The engine will stop.

Be aware that the blade may take a few moments to come to a stop. Do

not attempt to stop the blade, allow it to slow gradually.

Using your hedge trimmer

Cutting

Always keep the machine at arms length, with the blade pointed away

from your body. Always hold the machine tightly, using both hands on the
handles provided.
Accelerate the engine to full speed before cutting. Always cut at full

power.
Move the blade across the area to be trimmed using a smooth sweeping

motion. Both sides of the blade can be used to cut.
If it is necessary to remove a large amount of material, take several

shallow cuts.
Branches too thick to be cut with the machine should be sawn through

with a suitable hand saw.
Take particular care when cutting near to wire fences. Do not allow the

blades to contact wires.
Do not use this hedge trimmer above chest height. Do not use this hedge

trimmer when standing on an unstable surface (e.g. stepladder).
If the engine speed drops noticeably when cutting, the machine is being

overloaded.

Maintenance

Always stop the engine, and allow to cool fully, before performing any
cleaning or maintenance.
Blade maintenance

After every use, ensure that all waste material is removed from the blade.

Apply machine oil to all moving parts of the blades.

Restart the engine, and run for a few moments to distribute oil evenly.

Spark plug

The spark plug should be checked regularly.

To access the spark plug, remove the top part of the engine cover. To

release the cover, remove the four screws in the top of the cover, the
two screws at the rear of the cover, and the single screw under the front
of the cover.
Remove the spark plug using a suitable spark plug spanner.

The electrode gap should be set to 0.635mm (0.025”).

If the plug appears to be fouled, or burnt, the engine is not running

properly. Have your hedge trimmer serviced at an authorised service
centre.
If the electrode is heavily pitted, or eroded, replace the spark plug with a

new one of the same type (see specifications above).
Always replace engine cover and tighten spark plug properly before use.

Air filter

The air filter element should be removed and cleaned regularly.

To access the filter, undo the retaining screw on the side of the air filter

cover (11), remove the cover.
The foam filter element should be removed and cleaned using household

detergent. Allow to dry fully, soak in clean engine oil, squeeze out excess
oil, and replace element.
Replace filter cover (11) and retaining screw.

Cleaning

Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal

parts to wear quickly, and shorten the machine’s service life.
Clean the body of your machine with a damp cloth.

The fuel tank contains a filter that should be regularly cleaned with

fresh petrol.
