Programming

Your Communicator Receiver leaves the factory with the memory erased, so that you are able to program

your specific transmitters to your receiver. Each transmitter must be programmed separately.

(If you are using a smoke detector or fire transmitter with the Communicator you must program these

transmitters first or the supervision will not operate.)

On the rear of the Communicator Port is a programming button used to program Signature Series 418 MHz

transmitters to the Communicator Receiver. With the Communicator Port power switched on:

Press and hold the program button located at the back of the Communicator Port case. All six Icons will

illuminate on the Communicator receiver.

Hold the program button until the Icons goes out (about 5 seconds) and then the Green Phone Icon blinks

3 times.

Release the program button and the Icon’s will come back on to indicate that the receiver is now in

program mode. It will remain in program mode for approximately 30 seconds then the Icons will go out

one at a time to indicate the program time remaining. While in program mode, the receiver will memorize

the code of the transmitter and then exit program mode.

While the receiver is in program mode, press the button on any 418 Mhz Silent Call corresponding type

transmitter. When the receiver receives the transmitted signal, it will memorize the code, exit program

mode and indicate the function of the transmitter. (Note, if ALL indicators flash 5 times it indicates that

this transmitter has already been stored. It is still stored, but lets you know it has already been saved into

memory).

Operation

When the Communicator receiver is in the Communicator port and detects a signal from a Silent Call 418

MHz transmitter with a matching coding system, it illuminates the corresponding LED icon and activates

the Communicator Port’s optional bed vibrator and/or strobe light.

The alert will continue for approximately 15 seconds after the transmitted signal ceases except in the case

of fire. As long as the Smoke Detector and/or Fire Alarm Transmitters continue to send an alert signal, the

Communicator receivers alerting mechanisms will remain on.

The Communicator has 6 different icon symbols as well as different colors for each signal to help identify

which type transmitted signal was sent; Sound, Phone, Door, Weather, CO and Fire.

During the day, take the Communicator Receiver out of the Communicator Port and clip it to your belt

using the provided leather pouch or place into your pocket.

Vibration Signals

The Communicator Receiver has a specially defined vibration for each type of alert signal received. (See Reference

Guide on Page 6)

Battery Backup Mode

In the event of a power failure, the Communicator Port will automatically enter into battery backup mode.

Note: Programmed transmitter codes are retained in memory even when the power is removed.

Last Alert Signal Recall Button

Pressing the button on the top side of the Communicator Receiver will recall the last alert signal. The receiver will

not vibrate but will light up the signal LED.
