If IMAGING UNIT LIFE on the SYS DEFAULT MENU is set to STOP ,
the message I-UNIT LIFE X (where “ X ”. represents the color of the
toner) appears when a imaging unit becomes empty. Follow the steps below
to replace the imaging unit.

If IMAGING UNIT LIFE on the SYS DEFAULT MENU menu is
set to CONTINUE , you are advised to replace the indicated imaging
unit when the message I-UNIT END X appears.

Check the message window to see which color imaging unit needs replac-
ing.

Open the printer’s front cover.

Press down the area marked
“Push” on the imaging unit to be
replaced, and then slide the unit
all the way out of the printer.
The replacement procedure for
the imaging unit is the same for
all colors (yellow: Y, magenta: M,
cyan: C, and black: K). The fol-
lowing instructions show the pro-
cedure to replace the toner
cartridge (K).

Dispose of the used imaging unit according to your local regula-
tions.
Do not burn the imaging unit.
