Nothing appears on the

display

The batteries are not loaded properly.

Verify that the batteries’ polarities = and

- are correct (☞ P.11).

Battery power is getting low.

Replace with new batteries (☞ P.11).

The power is off.

Turn the power on (☞ P.13).

Won’t start

Battery power is getting low.

Replace with new batteries (☞ P.11).

The power is off.

Turn the power on (☞ P.13).

The recorder is in HOLD mode.

Release the recorder from HOLD (☞ P.13).

Unable to record

Low remaining memory.

Erase unnecessary files (☞ P.38).

T h e m a x im um num b e r of f i l e s ha s
been reached.

Change to the another folder
(☞ P.19 to P.21, P.23).

The SD Card is set to write protection.

Undo the SD Card’s write protection setting
and then try again (☞ P.18).

No sound picked up by the

built-in microphone

An external microphone or external
device is connected.

Detach all external microphones and
external devices connected to the

LINE IN

jack and the

MIC jack (☞ P.30, P.31).

Unable to record through an

external microphone

An external device is connected to the

LINE IN jack.

Detach the connecting cord from the
recorder.

An external microphone supported by
plug-in power is connected but [

Plug-in

Power] is set to [Off].

Set [

Plug-inPower] to [On] when an

external microphone supported by plug-in
power is connected (☞ P.41, P.44).

No playback tone heard

The earphone is connected.

Unplug the earphones to use the internal
speaker.

The volume level is set to [

0].

Adjust the volume level (☞ P.32).

Recording level too low

The recording level has not been ad-
justed.

Adjust the recording level and then try
recording once more (☞ P.26).

The microphone sensitivity is too low.

Set the microphone sensitivity to [

HIGH]

mode and try again (☞ P.27).

This could potentially be because the
recording level and output level for the
connected external devices are too low.

If you cannot record clearly even after
adjusting the recording level, then adjust the
output level for the connected devices
(☞ P.23).

Recording level too high

The recording level has not been ad-
justed.

Adjust the recording level and then try
recording once more (☞ P.23).

This could potentially be because the
recording level and output level for con-
nected external devices are too high.

If you cannot record clearly even after
adjusting the recording level, then adjust the
output level for the connected devices
(☞ P.23).
