Initial Start-up (No Load)
Beforeoperatingthehomegeneratororplacingitinto
service,inspecttheentireinstallationcarefully.
Thenbegintestingthesystemwithoutanyelectricalloads
connected,asfollows:
 1. Setgenerator’smaincircuitbreakertoitsON(closed)
position.
 . Install15Ampfuseincontrolpanel.
 3. Setgenerator’ssystemswitchtoAUTO.
 4. PushMANUAL OVER-RIDEbuttononcontrolpanel.
NOTE:Whenthehomegeneratorisstartedforthevery
firsttime,itwillrequirethatairinthegaseousfuellinesbe
purged.Thismaytakeafewminutes.
 5. DONOTcrankengineformorethan10seconds,then
pausefor10secondstoreduceheatinthestarter.
 6. Repeatprocessuntilenginestarts.
 7. Listenforunusualnoises,vibrationorotherindications
ofabnormaloperation.Checkforoilleakswhileengine
runs.
 8. Letenginewarmupforaboutfiveminutestoallow
internaltemperaturestostabilize.
 9. ConnectanaccurateACvoltmeterandafrequency
metertocheckgeneratoroutputatloadsideofcircuit
breaker.Voltageshouldbe39-6Volts,frequency
shouldbe6.0-6.5Hz.
NOTE:Ifeitherparameterisoutsidetheseranges,perform
theEngineAdjustmentsdescribedbelow.
10. Checkgeneratoroutputbetweenoneofthegenerator
connectionlugsandtheneutrallug,thenbetweenthe
othergeneratorconnectionlugandtheneutrallug.
Inbothcases,voltagereadingshouldbebetween
119-131Volts.
11. PushandholdMANUAL OVER-RIDEbuttononcontrol
panelagainuntilenginestops.
IMPORTANT:DONOTproceeduntilyouarecertainthat
generatorACvoltageandfrequencyarecorrectandwithin
thestatedlimits.Toobtainthepropergeneratorfrequency,
seeEngine Adjustments.
Engine Adjustment
Eachhomegeneratorunitleavesthefactorysetforeither
NGorLPgasoperation.Thereareregionalvariancesinthe
compositionofnaturalgas.Ifthegeneratoroutputvoltage
orfrequencymeasuredduringInitialStart-Up(paragraph#9)
isoutsidethelistedranges,thecombustibilityofthegas
suppliedattheinstallationsitemaybesubstantiallydifferent
fromthefuelusedatthefactory.
Toadjusttheengineforthisdifference,proceedasfollows.
 1. Opentheoildrainandcontrolpanelaccessdoors.
 . Removethefourscrewsthatholdthecircuitbreaker
covertotheairintakeguard.
 3. Connectanaccuratefrequencymetertothelinesideof
thegenerator’smaincircuitbreaker.
 4. Ensurethatthe15Ampfuseisinstalled.
 5. Setthegenerator’smaincircuitbreakerON.
 6. Setthegenerator’ssystemswitchtoAUTO.
 7. PushMANUAL OVER-RIDEbuttononcontrolpanel.
Whentheenginestarts,allowittowarmupforfive
minutes.
