5. If applicable, using a suitable spanner wrench,

loosen the spanner nut retainer and remove the
spanner nut from the cylinder barrel

6. Secure a pull bar to the rod end with a 0.75 - 16 cap-

screw fastener.

EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN REMOVING THE CYL-
INDER ROD, HEAD, AND PISTON. AVOID PULLING THE ROD OFF-
CENTER, WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PISTON AND
CYLINDER BARREL SURFACES.

7. Using this as a handle, pull out the piston rod and

extend until the piston bottoms out on the head.

8. Gently tap the piston against the head to drive the

rod assembly out.

9. Place the rod on a clean surface that will not dam-

age the chrome.
