Warning & Safety Precautions

Please read and fully understand this instruction sheet and
all warnings and precautions listed below. MARSHALLTOWN
is not responsible for any accident resulting from negligence,
unintended use of the stilts, and failure due to lack of regular
maintenance and assessment

WARNING: Load limit 225lbs. Do not exceed!

WARNING: During transport, keep locking mechanisms in

the locked positions to avoid damaging the assemblies.

1. Always clean off the bottom of footbase, securely tighten

all fasteners, inspect the stilts in detail, repair any defects
or damage using only parts intended for the Marshalltown
Skywalker

®

2.1 stilts before using the stilts. For questions

regarding parts, damage, or defects contact Customer
Service toll-free at (800) 888-0127.

2. Under no condition should the stilts be worn while under the

influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that could impair
your judgment, affect your balance, or cause drowsiness.

3. Only use stilts on clean, dry surfaces, free of debris and

obstacles on the ground. Never use stilts on scaffolding or
plywood placed over any type of opening.

4. When learning to walk on the stilts, always have a friend or

partner around to spot you. It is important to start slowly and
to make very small strides, lifting your feet cleanly off the
ground. If you need to change or reverse your direction, try
to use “U-turns” to do so. Avoid walking backwards on the
stilts. As you become more comfortable and confident using
the stilts, you may start lengthening your stride. WARNING:
Never completely compress the stilt action springs. This puts
excess stress on other stilt components that could cause
them to collapse.

5. Always attach the calf cuff straps before tightening the foot

straps when putting on the stilts. Make sure to securely
fasten each strap. Remove the foot straps first before the calf
cuff straps when taking off the stilts. NOTE: When putting on,
taking off, or tightening straps on the stilts, you should have
a spotter or be sitting down. Leaning over while on the stilts
can cause you to lose your balance and fall.

6. It is important to properly maintain all stilt components and

lubricate any moving part. These include items such as the
action springs and strut tubes. Use a lubricant that dries to
avoid collecting dirt and debris.

Set-up

1. Inspect your stilts, making sure all parts are included.
2. Loosen the four cuff post plate screws (see fig. A, pg. 14)

and adjust cuff post to desired height., usually just above the
widest part of the calf.

3. When adjustments have been made, tighten down the four

cuff post plate screws just enough so the calf post will not
move. Never over tighten the bolts, as damage can occur,
causing the stilts to become unstable.

4. Adjust heel cup to furthest back point, allowing as little toe

overhang as possible.

5. Unbuckle calf cuff straps.
6. Unbuckle foot and toe strap buckles (see fig. B, pg. 14).
7. Insert foot and tighten the calf cuff first (see fig. C, pg. 14).
8. Once balanced, tighten the foot and toe straps.
9. Use the calf and foot strap ratchet buckles to fully tighten.

You are now ready to walk on your stilts. If you need to adjust
the tension, use the spring set adjustment nut on the spring
assembly. Adjust to add tension to the spring if there is little
support in the ankle of the stilt while walking. Decrease tension
if the stilts are too stiff at the ankle joint. The spring should
always have some amount of tension. (see fig. D, pg. 14).

Height Adjustment

1. Unlock the upper lock assembly and press the trigger on the

lower lock assembly to adjust stilts to desired height
(see fig. E, pg. 14).

2. Ensure stilts are locked into place by letting go of lower lock

and check to see if stilt legs will raise or lower.

3. Re-latch the upper lock assembly once the correct height is

set.

NOTE: Never make height adjustment while standing on

stilts.
