*WARNING:

Reagents marked with an * are considered to be potential health

hazards. To view or print a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for these
reagents go to www.lamotte.com. To obtain a printed copy, contact LaMotte by
e-mail, phone or fax.
To order individual reagents or test kit components, use the specified code
number.

Carefully read the LaMotte Direct Reading Titrator Manual before
performing the titration. The Titrator is calibrated in parts per million
(ppm chloride). Each minor division on the titrator scale equals 1 ppm.
NOTES:

• If sample is colored, add 0.3 mL Aluminum Hydroxide Suspension

(order LaMotte Code 3826) per 10 mL of sample. Mix, let settle and
filter.

• If sulfide, sulfite or thiosulfate is present, add 0.1 mL Hydrogen

Peroxide 30%, per 10 mL of sample.

EPA AC CEPTED PROCEDURE
To qualify as an EPA accepted test, and to achieve greatest accuracy, the
*Chloride Reagent B should be checked periodically. Refer to Standard
Methods

, 16th edition, 407A, 1985.

Standardize against 0.0141N NaCl by adding 3.0 mL of 0.0141N NaCl to
an Erlenmeyer flask. Add 3 to 4 drops of *Chloride Reagent A and titrate
with *Chloride Reagent B to a pinkish yellow endpoint. At the endpoint,
3.0 mL of *Chloride Reagent B should be consumed. Should a variance
greater than 0.3 mL occur, discard *Chloride Reagent B and reorder fresh
reagent(Code 4070).
