All Programs lists programs installed on the computer.

My Documents, My Pictures, and My Music provide quick access to the corresponding folders, where you can save frequently used files.

My Computer

allows you to view the contents of your computer drives.

Control Panel

allows you to adjust computer settings.

Help and Support opens the

Help and Support Center

window.

Search helps you locate files and folders on your computer or network.

Run displays a window to start a program or open a file with a command.

Log Off logs off the current user so that a new user can log on to the computer.

Turn Off Computer provides options for shutting down and restarting the computer and placing the computer in a power management mode. If the
computer is running Windows XP Professional and is connected to a domain, different options appear in the Shut Down window.

Taskbar

 

The taskbar contains the

Start button

on the left and the notification area on the right. When you open a program, a button for that program appears on the

taskbar. You can click the buttons to move between open programs. If the taskbar runs out of space, Windows XP groups multiple instances of the same
program on a single taskbar button.

 

You can add toolbars to the taskbar to provide quick access to programs or links. To add or remove toolbars, including Quick Launch and Links:

1.

Right-click an empty spot on the taskbar and point to Toolbars.

2.

Click the toolbar that you want to add or remove.
