System Fan(s)

1.

Follow the instructions in

Before Working Inside Your Computer

.


 

2.

Remove the hinge cover (see

Removing the Hinge Cover

).


 

3.

Remove the keyboard (see

Keyboard

).


 

4.

Remove the display assembly (see

Removing the Display Assembly

).


 

5.

Remove the palm rest (see

Removing the Palm Rest

).

 

6.

Remove the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws from the fan(s), and then disconnect the connector(s) that connect the fan(s) to the system board.

 

7.

Lift the fan(s) out of the computer.

NOTICE:

To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such

as the back panel) on the computer.

To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see

) before working inside the

computer.

NOTE:

This computer may have either one or two system fans, depending on the video configuration. If the video memory is integrated on the system

board rather than on a separate video card/thermal-cooling assembly, the computer has only one fan—the processor fan. The processor fan is the larger
fan, and the smaller fan (if present) is for the video card/thermal-cooling assembly (if installed).
