Opening the Computer Cover

 

 

1.

 

Turn off the computer and devices, disconnect them from their electrical outlets, and wait 10 to 20 seconds.

2.

 

If you have installed a padlock through the

padlock ring

on the back panel, remove the padlock.

3.

 

If you have a mini-tower computer, lay the computer on its side.

 

 

4.

 

Press the two release buttons until the cover is free to swing up.

 

5.

 

Raise the back of the cover, and pivot it toward the front of the computer.

Before you perform this procedure, see "

NOTICE:

Before disconnecting a device from the computer, wait 10 to 20 seconds after disconnecting the computer from its electrical outlet. Before

removing a component from the system board, verify that the standby power light on the system board has turned off. To locate this light, see your
computer's illustration in "

System Board Components

."

NOTE:

On the small desktop computer, remove the stand before you open the computer cover. On the mini-tower computer, place the computer on its

side before you open the cover. See your User's Guide for more information.

NOTICE:

Do not open the cover if the computer is on the edge of a desk or table. Doing so may cause the computer to tip over and fall. Make sure that

the computer is situated so that there is at least 12 inches of desk- or tabletop for the cover to rest on.

NOTICE:

Open the cover slowly to ensure you do not damage any cables.
