2. Use Equation Writer to create the substitution, a: = ?/ + 3, and press

(ENTER)

to place it on stack level 1. This pushes the previous expression

to stack level 2.

3. Press 0{^ to access the Algebra command menu and select the

SUBST

command. The HP 49G perfonus the substitution and the result

appears at stack level 1.
