TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

PROBLEM

CAUSE

CORRECTION

Loss of power

• Cutting too much grass/loo

fast.

• Set in “Higher Cuf posi-

tion/reduce speed.

• Throttle in “CHOKF position.

• Adjust throttle control.

• Build-up of grass, leaves and

trash under nrtower.

• Clean underside of mower hous­

ing.

• Dirty air filter.

• Clean/replace air filter.

• Low oil levet/dirty oil.

• Check (Ml level/change oil.

• Faulty spark plug.

• Clean and regap or change

spark plug.

• Dirty fuel filter.

• Replace fuel filter.

• Stole or dirty fuel.

• Drain fuel tonk and refill with

fresh gasoline.

• Water in fuel.

• Drain fuel tonk and carburetor,

refill tank with fresh gasoline and
replace fuel filter.

• Spark plug wire loose.

• Connect and tighten spark plug

wire.

• Dirty engine air screen/fins.

• Clean engine air screen/fins.

• Dirty/clogged muffler.

• Clean/replace muffler.

• Loose or deimaged wiring.

• Check all wiring.

• Carburetor out of adjustinent.

• See “To Adjust Carburetor“ in

Service and Adjustments
section.

• Engine valves out of adjust­

ment.

• Contact an authorized service

center.

Excessive vibration

■ Worn, bent or loose blade.

• Replace blade. Tighten blade

bolt

• Bent blade mandrel.

• Replace blade mandrel.

• Loose/damaged part(s).

• Tighten loose part(s). Replace

damaged parte.
