The Nikon Scanner plug-in software will not find Coolscan unless it is connected to

the main SCSI bus.

• For the most pleasing display, set your “Monitors” Control Panel to the maximum

number of colors available. “Thousands” or “Millions” of colors will provide an

excellent display of your image. If your system only supports a maximum of 256

colors you will see a ‘dithered’ image, which looks grainy or speckled. The monitor

setting has no effect on the actual quality of your image, which is always captured in

24-bit mode (16.7 million colors).
• Color images can occupy large amounts of disk space. So, make sure your hard

disk has sufficient free space to store the images you plan to scan. You should have

at least 60 megabytes of free space available if you plan on maximum resolution
