B.1 SERIAL PORT HARDWARE
The COM1 serial port is a full duplex RS-232 port designed for connection to one of the following
devices:
• Serial receipt printer (dot matrix)
• Computer
• Remote display
• S-630 or S-650 Scale (to transmit APW)
Figure B-1 shows the serial port pin assignments for the scale’s female DSUB9 connector. Refer to
Figures B-2 and B-3 for some suggested cable diagrams.
1. Plug the serial printer or computer communication cable (not included) directly into the
scale’s DSUB9 serial port connector.
