CHAPTER 1:
INTRODUCTION TO THE SALTER BRECKNELL 304- BP SERIES PRECISION
BALANCE
The 304-BP Series Precision Balance, available in several capacities, is a large capacity, affordable
balance designed for the classroom, laboratory or industrial applications. The 304-BP features 1:30,000
displayed resolution, a large, high contract LCD display and digital calibration. Weighing modes include
gram (kilogram), carat, avoirdupois pound and troy ounce. In addition, you may program one
additional custom unit. A “Plus” model is available that features 1:50,000 displayed resolution.
The scale is available in three weight capacities as illustrated in Table 1-1. The “Plus” model
matrix is shown in Table 1-2.
Prior to using the scale, please read this user’s guide carefully and completely. Store the manual
in a safe and convenient place so it will be available if you have questions concerning the
operation of the scale.
