Damaged electrical cords present risk of
fire, electrical shock, and serious bodily
injury. Before operating the electric tiller,
carefully examine the electrical cord. If the
cord is damaged, do not use the electric
tiller. Replace or repair the damaged cord
immediately. If you need assistance, contact
an authorized Sun Joe dealer.

1. Plug the extension cord into the plug.
2. Plug the extension cord into the power outlet.
3. Hang the extension cord onto the Belt Clip (P) (See Fig. 5)

and fasten to your trousers.

Power ON and OFF

Note: Before starting the electric tiller do the following:

Ensure the tines are not touching any objects.
Hold the grips firmly with both hands.
1. Turn ON the machine by pressing the Safety Button (B)

(See Fig. 6) and the squeezing Power Switch (D)
(See Fig. 6). Release the Safety Button (B) (See Fig. 6).

Note: The tines will begin to rotate and dig themselves into

the ground.

2. After completing the work release Power Switch (D) (See

Fig. 6) to turn the machine OFF.

Operating the Electric Tiller

Rotating tines may cause serious injury. The
tines will continue to turn for a few seconds
after the tool has been switched OFF. Do not
touch the rotating tines. Contact with hot
components (i.e.: motor housing, gear box)
on the machine may cause burns.Allow the
machine to cool off before handling.

1. Walk the electric tiller through the soil at a normal pace

and in as straight a line as possible.

2. Always till away from the electrical outlet. Ensure the

extension cord is kept away from the work area.

3. Do not try to till too deeply or force the electric tiller into

soil that is extremely hard or resistant.

Note: Over loading the machine will cause it to shut down. If
this occurs the machine will not operate until the motor has
completely cooled down.

4. Always maintain a firm grip on the electric tiller.
5. Lift the electric tiller over hard surfaces. Do not lift or drag

the electric tiller when the motor is running.

Cleaning, Maintenance and

Storage

Unexpected tines movement may cause
personal injury. Before servicing, repairing or
inspecting the tiller, turn the motor OFF and
disconnect the extension cord.Wait for the tines
to completely stop rotating before conducting
inspection, cleaning or maintenance.

Contact with hot components (i.e.: motor
housing, gear box) on the machine may cause
burns. Allow the machine to cool off before
handling.
