9.5 Install I/O expansion board(s) option

The I/O expansion board kit is supplied with the following parts:






















11. I/O expansion board


Installation in a machine

1. Switch off the machine and disconnect the power.
2. Mount the I/O expansion board in the machine. The board can be mounted on spacers

(using the holes provided in the expansion board), or mounted on a DIN rail using standard
fixing brackets which are widely available. The expansion board dimensions are 100mm x
140mm.

3. Connect the wires to the expansion board according to the specifications for your machine.

4. Connect the expansion board to the controller using a UTP Cat 5E patch cable. If you are

installing a multiple expansion boards they must be interconnected in a chain, i.e. the first
connected to the controller, the second connected to the first, the third connected to the
second etc.

5. Configure the expansion board address using the 4 dip-switches provided for this on the

board.


Notes - A maximum of 8 expansion boards can be connected per controller

- Each expansion board (per controller) must have a unique address

- The maximum length of the UTP patch cable is 7m. When multiple expansion boards

are installed 7m is the maximum total length possible for all interconnecting UTP
cables.
