After takeoff establish the appropriate climb attitude. When a safe altitude

has been reached, activate the heading select mode by depressing the HDG
push button on the mode select panel. Activate the desired vertical mode by
selecting the appropriate button on the mode select panel. This will result in
flight director commands to turn to maintain (heading bug) heading and pitch
to the appropriate vertical attitude.

The aircraft will automatically respond to the flight director commands as soon
as the autopilot is engaged. Arm, if required, altitude select by depressing the
SEL push button.
