3. To replace the brushes:
Install the new brushes by reversing the
procedure and following these important
instructions. Your new brush kit contains
two (2) different matched pairs of brushes.
One pair has a white paint mark on one end
and the other pair does not. Lay these out
as shown in the iilustration to ensure proper
assembly. The pair without the paint mark
are designed to go on the end with the belt
pulley. They can go on the brush holder In any direction and in any
order. The pair with the paint mark are designed to go on the end
next to the agitator holder. The white paint mark must be on the
very end of the brush hoider next to the agitator hoider. When the
brushes are properly installed they will not hit the tower plate as
the agitator assembly rotates.
4. To reassemble the agitator:
Reinstall the agitator holder and belt pulley. Be sure to align the
marks that you made before you removed these items. This helps
keep the agitator assembly balanced. Place the brush supports
back on the agitator assembly. See the illustration below for an
exploded view of the complete agitator.
5. To replace the agitator assembly:
Place the belt over the belt pulley on the agitator unit. Place the
agitator assembly back into the nozzle as outlined in the REPLAC­
ING THE BELT section. After completing the assembly, rotate the
agitator, turning it by hand to assure that it rotates smoothly and
tile parts are assembled correctly. Pay particular attention to the brushes to ensure they do not
hit the lower plate at any point.
6. To check for correct reassembly:
Replace the lower plate as outlined in the REMOVING/tNSTALLING THE LOWER PLATE section.
After the completion of the reassembly, test the vacuum by turning it on and listening for any con­
tact of the brushes with the lower plate. If any contact exists there will be a very noticeable noise.
