3c. Keep track of the 1.0mm shims beneath

the mounting flange of the bearing car-
tridge.

NOTE: The shims set the end-play and position
of the differential.

3d. The left bearing cartridge holds the sealed

bearing that supports the inner end of the
axle. See Figure 3.75.

3e. The left bearing cartridge also holds the

race for the differential carrier bearing.
There is a seal between the carrier bear-
ing race and the sealed bearing that sup-
ports the axle. See Figure 3.76.

3f. With the left bearing cartridge removed,

the differential carrier bearing cone is
exposed. See Figure 3.77.

The right-side cartridge can be removed in simi-
lar fashion, but the differential lock shift fork
passes through it.

4a. To remove the lock fork, support the end of

the lock fork shaft and drive the tension
pin out of it using a flat-nosed drift.
See Figure 3.78.
