INTRODUCTION

The BVC automatically controls each boiler’s Motor Operated Valve (MOV) based on an input

from the corresponding boiler. All MOVs will open automatically whenever all boilers are shut

down. The position of any MOV can also be manually set using the operational sequence

shown in Figure 13. If a boiler is firing, the corresponding valve cannot be moved to the

“CLOSED” position (see Figure 12 screen 3). When a boiler stops firing and a valve close is

requested, the Time Delay function keeps the boiler MOV open for the selected time delay,

allowing water to continue to flow through the boiler to absorb the residual heat before closing

the valve. By using the touch screen a time delay value between 1 and 30 minutes (minimum of

two minutes is recommended) may be selected (see Figure 14).

NOTE

The factory default setting for the time delay is two minutes. AERCO

recommends that the time delay not be set below this value.

FOUR BOILER SYSTEMS AND TWELVE BOILER SYSTEMS

AERCO’s Boiler Valve Controller unit comes in both 4 boiler and 12 boiler version. This

document describes scenarios associated with a 4 boiler BVC unit. The operational sequences

for the 12 boiler BVC unit are analogous. Table 5 below summarizes the differences in the touch

screen display for these two BVC models.
